Akitakomachi rice has a strong sweetness and a good aroma, so it goes well with light dishes. It also has a good stickiness and texture, and is delicious even when cooled, so we recommend putting it in your lunch box or making it into onigiri.

In the taste rankings announced every spring by the Japan Grain Inspection Association, Akita Komachi rice from Akita Prefecture has been awarded the Special A rank every year since 2012. The rank is determined by whether the rice is superior to a standard in quality, and approximately 30% of all varieties have been awarded the Special A rank.
